TELEMEDICINE

Telemedicine At MIT

We’re pleased to offer Telemedicine services on the days we are unable to treat patients for urgent medical procedures in our Lady Lake, Florida facility. Telemedicine is becoming an increasingly popular method for providing healthcare. We may use it in cases where you are immunocompromised, or even if you have limited available transportation. During COVID-19, we recommend remote healthcare if you’re seeking medical attention with a significantly lowered risk of exposure to virus particles.

How Does Telemedicine Work?

Your Telemedicine appointment starts with a simple call to our Lady Lake office. You’ll be connected to one of our remote-working receptionists, who can address your concerns. We will then get you scheduled for a Telemedicine consultation. This quick and easy consultation can be done over the phone, where you’ll be able to discuss your health concerns and treatment plan with both Dr. Jacobson and one of our certified technicians.

If we need to, we can also schedule a physical appointment for you depending on urgency. Some examples of urgent or emergency procedures we may perform under government orders include:

  • Biopsies of organs and bones for cancer diagnosis
  • Ports for chemo and infusion access
  • PICC lines
  • Spinal fracture repairs
  • Lung and abdomen drainages
  • Catheter placements
  • Stomach tube placements.

Safety Information

Our team at MIT is taking all of the necessary steps to ensure yours and our safety if you need to come in for a physical appointment. Currently, we are seeing only one patient at a time. Patients and visitors will not be allowed to enter our building without a mask on. As usual, we keep all surfaces and equipment in our office clean and sanitized. Our medical staff also change gloves between each patient. Staff and patients alike are screened daily for symptoms of COVID-19, and anyone showing symptoms will be referred to testing prior to their MIT appointment. You can expect our Lady Lake facility to be open for urgent appointments on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Appointments can still be scheduled over the phone during our regular business hours of 8am-5pm M-F.

Unfortunately, if your medical needs are considered “elective” we are unable to treat you at this time. We will still place you in our future schedule and you will receive a phone call to arrange an appointment as soon as the government order is lifted. Each of our patients is important to us, and we encourage you to stay home and stay safe if you are not experiencing a potentially life-threatening medical emergency.
